Dr Myrto Marinou Dealing with Stress Summary:
The teaching profession is a highly stressful one, since research shows
that there are many stressors unique to the teaching profession and
teacher burn-out is a common and universal phenomenon. The costs of
teacher stress can be huge and include impaired health, reduced self
confidence and self esteem and damaged professional and personal relationships.
There are many different methods for coping with the stresses of teaching,
from relaxation techniques to more direct action techniques in order
to eliminate the sources of stress.
Biodata:
Dr.Marinou is a Medical School graduate of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.She specialized in Psychiatry at Harvard South Shore Residency Program in Boston, Massachusetts. During the last year of her training, she became Chief Resident in Psychosomatic Medicine and Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry. She has published an article in “Psychiatric Times” magazine, when she was a 3rd year resident, titled “Torn in Half”, which was about the challenges of being a mother of twins and a resident (resident=Doctor in training). Her research experience includes the study of «Dreams and Post-traumatic stress disorder”, which was presented on Harvard Resident Day 2009. Dr.Marinou was honored by her residency program, with the 360 Professionalism award in 2008. Her special interests include Psychosomatic Medicine, Psychotherapy and Women’s Health issues.
