Writer's Guidelines:
When submitting articles, please bear in mind that members have
expressed an interest in reading articles which provide practical tips or concern
basic problems (such as motivation or classroom management) rather than articles
which are heavily theoretical. Ideally, articles should be around 500 words long.
Contributors are expected to refer explicitly to the sources of ideas (when directly
citing, paraphrasing or summarizing) and activities (whether unchanged or adapted).
The sources should be referred to in the text by name, date and page number (e.g.
Smith 2003: 5) and with full details in an alphabetized list at the end of the
article. This follows the Harvard System of referencing. Each article should
contain a maximum of 5 references.
Please respect gender-neutral language in your
contribution, avoiding the generic pronoun 'he' and replacing it with 's(he)' or
'they'. If you want further advice on how to avoid discriminatory language, please
contact the Editor. The Editor(s) have the right to negotiate with the writer on
recommended changes, but undertake not to publish the article unless the writer is
happy with the final version. It is the author's responsibility to ensure that
copyright, plagiarism and libel laws have been respected. Please note that all web
links to publications or sites promoting the commercial interests of the author
should be explicitly stated as such CLEARLY in the body of the article. If such
links lead directly to sold products, courses and other ELT items which have not
been stated (i.e. declared falsely as purely academic), the Editor maintains the
right to withdraw the article without further negotiation.
