The Board / Julia Tanner

 

Julia is the Founding Chair of TESOL Macedonia-Thrace, N. Greece. Although this is her first time back on the Executive Board, she has continued to play an active role in the organization.

Currently a trainer for the Hellenic American Union in Thessaloniki and an Examiner and Trainer for University of Michigan Examinations, she also works for a private high school, Εκπαιδευτήρια Βασιλειάδη. Her initial work in Greece was in frontisteria and then Julia moved to the British Council where she became a senior trainer and teacher. She has participated in many in- and pre-service training courses for Greek state school teachers of English and made numerous conference presentations both here and abroad.

She was also instrumental in helping to set up another voluntary organization - Thessaloniki Organisation for Women’s Employment & Resources (TOWER) - of which she is Founding Chair. She has been interviewed several times on television and by the press about issues unrelated to teaching!
